Tango Open Center
Tango Open Center is a new project dedicated to the promotion and preservation of Japan’s highest quality kimono silk, chirimen silk. The region has a 300 year history of chirimen silk, and produces 70% of the country’s high-quality kimono silk. Tango Open Center offers visitors a chance to see the entire process via a factory walkthrough, with various stations to see different parts of the process, a gallery space for shopping and local silk products, an area dedicated to the history of silk in the region, and an experience corner where guests can make ‘cup chirimen’,' a fun take on instant ramen noodles to create a chirimen-pouch to take home.
