UNSESCO Global Geopark

Join the members of Ashiato as they protect the oceans and upcycle discarded plastic into useful objects. The north shore of the Tango Penensula is a registered UNESCO Global Geopark, with white sand beaches, incredible marine diversity, nutrient rich waters, and….plastic. Together with ASHIATO, a group dedicated to preserving local beaches in Kyoto by the Sea, visitors will participate in beach cleaning as well as plastic upcycling. The tour discusses ocean currents, plastics and microplastics, environmental impacts, as well as solutions for improving the quality of our oceans.
